KeymasterTo connect the MPI-2/MPI-3 to a personal watercraft equipped with a 1503 engine
1. Remove the diagnostic connector cap from the harness of the vehicle. 2. Connect one end of the Diagnostic Cable to the diagnostic connector of the vehicle. 3. Connect the other end of the Diagnostic Cable to the MPI-3 Interface. For safe contact in the connectors, we strongly recommend you to use thumb screws on the DB9 connector to allow for locking the connector to its mating half. 4. Connect the MPI-2/MPI-3 Interface to USB port of your computer. 5. Launch B.U.D.S. and make sure that it detects the MPI. 6. Choose Kw2000 protocol (for 2002-2006). For vehicles since 2007 the protocol is Kw2000 (Auto). 7. Insert a DESS® key on the DESS post of the vehicle. Notes
Always reconnect the diagnostic connector cap when you are done.
Once the DESS key is inserted on the DESS post of the vehicle, the computer has approximately 30 seconds to initiate communication with the vehicle. If the computer did not detect the vehicle within this delay, then remove the DESS key from the DESS post of the vehicle and insert it again.
